Young Caring and Personal Care

Many young carers provide personal care for their relatives. This can include dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and giving medications. Sometimes young carers who have a grandparent with dementia must "help remember elders what to do." Others are the "ears" for someone who is deaf.

Some young carers, as illustrated in the above pictures, help with mobility. Many children and youth who are part of New Canadian or refugee families act as translators for their parents. Whatever young carers do to provide a helping hand for their family, the art pictures show that there is definitely a lot of love involved.
